I made my first tombstones and used foam adhesive the kind used with a caulk gun. And it did not last long at all, I ran out after just a couple of tombstones. I tried Glidden's Gripper and it is AMAZING!!! Paint Section of hardware store: Lowes, Home Depot, etc.
I put it inbetween two foam board insulation pieces and about 30 minutes later it was still moveable so I left it overnight. This morning it was completely solid. I could not even take it apart, and there weren't any spaces on the sides. I think I spent like $10 or less on a 31.5 oz can and it is obvious that I could use this as adhesive for a ton of tombstones and not run out too soon.

I will not use it for the edges though, because of the label warnings. You know the regular stuff, like sanding with mask/respirator, etc. I will stick to wood glue for concealing lines still.

This stuff is amazing. Anyone else use it?

Are you referring to the Glidden's Gripper primer? Or another version of the product?

Yes, same stuff. Here is a pic. Glidden Interior/Exterior Gripper White primer/sealer. I believe you can add tint to it as well.

I tried again when I got home and it is sealed tight. Woohoo! I will be using this from now on to connect my pieces together for my tombstones. It also works the same way with wood, glass, painted metals and more.

SimplyJenn - YOU ROCK! Last year you gave me a heads up about this and did a quick test and was impressed with the results. Because I'm so used to using the old standby I kind of forgot about it. But the Hell Hound pushed me in the direction of trying to find a better glue. I gathered a bunch and then also remembered about the Glidden and threw it in the mix. Glidden was pitted against Great Stuff, Gorilla Glue, Spray Adhesive, Foam Fusion, Styro Goo and the Loctite. Glidden won!

It was easy to use and had the same gripping power of Great Stuff. You are so right on with this. I too will be using this for now on to glue the tombstones together. The Loctite will still be used for seams and other areas where there is air but it's being used more as a caulk then as a glue.

Filmed all this testing so you can see me turning purple from trying to pry it apart. Look for it soon

    Thanks Jenn!

Yes - the Liquid Nails doesn't dry very well like the Loctite Foamboard glue if there's no air to it and after the years - it eats away at the foam.
