The skull and Ouiga board looked quite lonely out on my porch so I dug up an old book to put under the skull (I have no idea why that would make a skull look all the more creepy...BUT IT DOES). PIX BELOW
I also attempted to make some PVC candles that looked like bad plumbing fixtures... Time for self editing... so I threw those out.
I was in luck, however, because the Dollar store that closed earlier this year just opened back up and they had those nice big fat candles (I bought 2 white and one red) and I got a few cheap red tapers for a buck too.
I drilled out a nice big pocket right in the top for a battery operated tea light, drilled a smaller hole all the way through to the bottom so I can turn the light on and off and I melted the edges and dripped red melted wax all down them and filled the top with more of the red wax to cover all but the lighted part of the tea light... this time to my satisfaction.
The Potion bottles are a "Barrel Proof" Jack Daniel's" bottle (The Blue one) and a Heinz 57 steak sauce bottle (the Orange one... We had steak for dinner on the grill and I finished the last of the sauce) with labels I made in 5 minutes on my computer and burnt the edge before spray gluing them on. I dripped some white wax on the Jack bottle it just for some grunge and wound some Jute twine around the necks. I filled the blue one with water and a little All liquid detergent and then a squirt of some blue blacklight acrylic paint I got at Michael's. The orange one is just water and some orange blacklight paint (not much paint at all... maybe a tablespoon).
Tomorrow I start the carving of the pumpkins!!!

Skull on a book (It's a book about lettering for sign painting from the 40's)

I didn't turn on the candles for the picture

Looks great! I love the bottles. And the skull does look extra creepy sitting on a book.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?
