I had a large skullhead mask that has a large black and red collar on it. I used it once with a cape and it looked pretty creepy. This year I decided to try and mount it in front of the upstairs window and light it with a strobe light. I knew I needed something to put in the mask to give it shape.....found an extra Styrofoam skull......worked great! Then what to mount it on?.......saw my microphone stand in the corner of the attic, unscrewed the microphone holder and "screwed" the skull on the end of the stand.....best thing is that it's adjustable!
I need to take some pictures of my haunt this year. It's not big but it's enough to make the kids say "you have the creepiest house on the street!".![]()

Absolutely! I have a studio and a number of mic stands, including ones with boom arms that not only raise up and down but also angled out. They are fantastic for hanging props and those clamp light fixtures too. Not everyone has mic stands, but they sure are handy and sturdy. If you keep an eye on musiciansfriend or sam ash, often multiple stands packages are on sale for very cheap. In the display game, they are very handy indeed.

I was just racking my brain trying to figure out how I was going to stand up my last few reapers. Thank you for this. I have a bunch of mic stands in the corner of my garage just waiting to be used.

I wish I did have a boom stand. Those were always my favorite when performing on stage. Glad I mentioned this Johan, I figured someone might find it useful.

Another couple "stand" ideas... –

Hallow guys!
I seem to get lucky finding trashed punching bags on stands - the kind that have a base filled with sand, a pole and then the punching bag at the end. Those little Muhammad Ali wanna-be's usually turn to violin at some point - so the parents get rid of the little punching bags - presumably to keep peace in the house! LOL
They are also adjustable - and the base is heavy when filled with the sand, so it is pretty stable for inside and out.
Also have had good luck adapting old floor fans, as well as garden tomato cages.
They are a nice height so on a little trail or yard haunt - the kiddies are staring eye to eye with whatever mask I put on top! EEEK!
Very quick, low tech and easy to set up - might look a bit cheesy to some - but a great way to use old masks and capes to create free standing figures.
I have even lashed a pool noodle to them to make arms!!
Now that's using my noodle!
(Sorry -- couldn't resist.)
