For us outside fog people, according to one of my buds he says he accidentally watered the lawn the day of Halloween and the moisture really kept the fog lower than usual.

    Anyone heard of this working?

Yes, I've heard it only on internet though.

Have yet to try it. Especially back to back, (dry ground first/ no wind ; wet ground / no wind)

I have heard of this. A friend of mine tried it this past Saturday and it worked great. As a control we moved his fogger to a dry patch of grass accross the yard and it rose in to the air. The fog has to be chilled first but thats obvious.

I can't say for sure if it works, but I can say that I do it, and not accidentally. I had heard of it before too and so I just do it each year now automatically. I seem to have pretty good luck with the fog gripping the ground, so maybe it's true.

Great! Then the rain forecasted for Halloween will not create a total loss. At least the fog will hug my new yard-now-swamp nicely.

Yes wetting down the lawn will help hold fog to the ground longer as additional cooling, if you are using a chiller. Without a chiller the fog has already risen too high for that to help.....

Why dosen't making the lawn surface cooler actually make the fog warmer compared to the lawn, so it being warmer now rises faster ?

The dampness of watered lawn keeps pre-cooled fog down,....... just know it works like that...... & if the lawn is warmer, the fog should rise / dissipate faster....... now if I could only walk on water I'd be happy........
