From time to time, I see people mention home haunter "make and take" workshops. Do any of these occur in Central North Carolina? Would love to attend one some day. I'm fascinated by Halloween effects, props and prop-building, but am not very mechanically inclined. Would be helpful to get together and see various props get built in person.

Speaking of which, are there any good haunted houses in Central North Carolina this season? I don't care for gore and shock type stuff--nothing against them, but I'm more inclined toward cinematic / atmospheric effects (e.g. Disney's Haunted Mansion).

Evidently, hardly anyone here is from North Carolina. At least according to the "Who is from Nor' Carolina" thread on the Southeast Haunted sub-forum (though granted, I myself just discovered it thanks to Creepy Cathy):

Might have something to do with being in the Bible Belt. I've noticed some families disappear on Halloween night--guessing they're taking their kids to churches. Or simply don't celebrate Halloween at all. Sad that they can't appreciate a fun, now-secular holiday like Halloween.
