We got a projector and put up old classic movies on it during our party a couple of years ago.

While everyone was sober, it was a big hit.

And video (with strobe light going on at the same time:

    How to make it:

Made this out of the lightweight white housing insulation panels that you can buy at Lowe's.

Bought two of the panels, then cut one 1/2 of each moon in each panel, then used 1 X 1 inch furring strips on the back side to mount the two separate halves together.

In the middle furring strip, screwed in a metal hook so that we could hang it from the main stage.

Next, I downloaded a picture of the full moon, and working from that used Fusion Light-Brown Spray Paint available from Fred Meyer or Lowe's to paint a full moon.

What a great idea! Might have to "borrow" that next year. :-)

    Thanks!

Ironically, it was the last project done and was done in about 30 minutes - but got the most compliments.

As a side note - practice with the spray can on the back side first so as to get a grip on how to spray out the front.

I've projected on black before so I'm pretty sure there's image overflow (since projected image is square or rectangle) but I'm guessing unless its a really vibrant scene most probably never notice it.

    Thanks Crunch!

Hi Victor - I think we figured out some way to project a circle. I wasn't in charge of renting/ setting up the actual projector, so I'll double-check with that person and get back to you here.

    Cheers!

we ended up putting a small paper cut-out around the projector's lens so there was no bleed-over.

Some parts of the screen wouldn't show up, but since we were showing old B-Horror movies, it didn't really matter.
