Thread: Mr. Bones and the Gourditos - Thriller (test run)

Thanks to the Medusa DMX board, Mr. Bones and the Gourditos will be singing a new song this year - Michael Jackson's Thriller. Here is a test run of it. Sorry for the autofocus freak out at the end...forgot to put it on manual.

I'll definitely get a better video for the final performance.

Here are the "behind the scenes" components:
6 servos in the skull (3 axis, jaw, and 2 servos for eyes)
1 servo in each pumpkin
1 servo in "tiny Tim" (on gravestone)
each pumpkin has a single LED light

My God, man! I had a silly grin through the whole video!! What a great job, especially with the lighting. Well, if you're this far ahead of the game a week out, I'm afraid to even wonder what else you've got in store!

Awesome, I think what would really set it over the top, though I don't know the work involved, I think while Mr. Bones is waiting for his part, it would be cool to have his finger tapping to the beat on the pumpkin, similar to the leg in the small guy last year, that would really include him in the beginning, just a thought.

Also lol, don't apologize about the focus problems, instead, when it starts to blur, just fade to black with his laughing in the background - ooh dramatic lol

At first I thought it was pretty lame ...........the 3- axis wasn't doing anything but rotating ......I did watch the whole video and have to say .GREAT JOB!! I'm not a fan of Micheal Jackson , but you did a really great job on this . I especially like the ending!!

Yep I was thinking the same thing if possible make the finger tap the pumpkin. I was thinking that then I saw this comment. Its something that would put it over the top. As much as I DO NOT LIKE MICHAEL.... you did a GREAT JOB. HATS OFF to You.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to fine tune things this weekend. I have a few more songs that I need to concentrate on and then I think I'm done. Every year in try and get things done a few days ahead of time and then "relax" a bit for a few days before the big event.

As far as the hand/finger tapping - funny thing is that I was actually working on it but wasn't happy with the result. I think it would be easy to add again though and of course it would be easy to record it. Of course that means I have to listen to this song again (ugh-not a Michael Jackson fan either really). I think what drew me to doing it (other than my wife asking since she is a fan) is that I knew I could probably do some cool stuff with the dmx colorsplash lights (by the way, there are two of those as well).

Anyway, thanks again and I'll see about adding the hand again and taking another video and post it. I think I'll use my 7d to video it rather than my wife's point and shoot.
