Oh why do I always forget about Surplus Center? I have had good luck buying hydraulics for my shop from them, they can take a few days to ship, but for the price can't beat it.
One thing to note about how Surplus Center works, they buy over stock, and inventory from businesses who are going out of business. Therefore the items they carry are limited to what they have in stock. Don't count on finding an item and expecting them to have it forever. If you find something you want, order it! The link Halloween 2012 posted says they have over 1000 of these motors in stock, but you never know how fast they'll go.

Looks like a great motor, but I'm always more comfortable with DC power when dealing with outdoor propsl.

I think this motor will have a problem running a FCG. I notice that the specs say it's an intermittent duty motor. This means it will run until it overheats, then the thermal protection will halt the motor until it cools down. You may be able to get around that by using a small fan to cool the motor, but I'd test it (with a load, if possible) before building it into the rig.
I spotted this item a couple of years ago, but passed on getting one because of the duty cycle.I...have many names...

Otaku ,it is only pulling 1.6 amps ...if the power suppply can handle that and the amperage is not exceded that should'nt be a problem .....or am I missing something??

The power supply isn't the issue, it's an AC motor. The motor isn't designed for continuous duty. I don't know if the pic on the web site is of that particular motor, but the one shown doesn't have an external cooling fan. As I said, you may be able to attach a muffin fan to back of the frame to cool it down. Worth a try.

I stand corrected... i didn't pay attention to the voltage.......I will still ask ...if the amperage is below the rated amperage it should not be a probem??

So is there a motor I can order online known to work for a FCG that will arrive by this Thursday? What would people recommend?
Too bad I can't buy the effect; or buy something like it locally and gussy it up to be cooler.
Would love to have a FCG for this year. What are my options if I ordered today or tomorrow?
I'd use this inside my house, not outside; although it would be nice to have an outside option as well.

I have used similar intermittent gear motors for a fcg, rocking chair, etc. with good results. But I did wire in a small cooling fan, as Otaku suggested.
