I've had these two large wooden cable spindles for almost a year now and if I don't do something with them my husbands head it going to pop off. I was just about to dismantle them and burn them when I thought maybe someone might have an idea on how to use them for Halloween.

One is 32in tall and 40in diameter, unfortunately it's been painted yellow so it doesn't have the old rotted wood look but it can be painted over.

The other is 36in tall and 47in diameter. It's been hiding in some trees (so my mother-in-law won't see it and freak out) it has not been painted and has a nice rotted wood look to it.

Anyone have any ideas on what I could do with it? I have a cemetery scene, a pirate scene, a hill-billy cook scene that I could add to or I can make up a new scene entirely.

Also if you have any non-Halloween ideas please PM me...I've got to come up with something or he is never going to let me live this down

    Thanks

Tables for pirate bar or hillbilly cook scene? I unno. That's the best I can come up with.. I'm usually stuck looking elsewhere for ideas and inspiration.

I like the table idea and I just made a chandelier out of some old PVC type Christmas Candy Canes so I could hang that from a tree above it. I don't really need people/skeletons to set at the table, right? I could just set the table like they're getting ready to eat.

Assumming one is light enough (some spools are so heavy), and assuming you lean into the gore side of Halloween - sounds like a neat torture rack. Stretch skelly across, make a long lever for another skelly to be holding.

Or actually mount it with a pipe down the middle, then attach some 'blades' made from foam or cardboard, etc - then spin the wheel of doom with a skelly laying underneath, etc?

Or go funny - ue the two sizes and make a 'flintstones-esque' looking cart/buggy. Park one behind the other, lay some boards across from one to another, build up from there with cardboard sides, or a fabric roof, etc. Could even hold live actor. Really into this idea - then make a real cart that would roll, attach boards from the pipes (axles) to form a crude cart. Then maybe in a driveway, form a 'lane' with other boards to keep it from steering out of the way...grab a volunteer to push it back n forth?

Make a giant 'needle' out of foam, and go for a miniaturized set where the skelllys have shrunken down, and those are now giant thread spools. Buld up the center, then wrap one time with a bolt or two or yarn or even small rope. Make a 'giant' thimble to complete the set with a garbage can turned upside down and paint silver with little black dots. Etc. For scary, make the needle be 'sewing 'thru' a skelly dressed as a voodoo doll (simple burlap costume). Add swamp scene around.

Stack the bigger one flat (on their sides) on top of the little one. Paint silver or something and make a UFO. Add rope lights around edges.

Make one of those circus things, where it is like a seesaw with two big wheels at end. The real one spins around and the performers walk the inside and outside of the spools, ya know. Make one that is just static, have scary clowns 'standing' on each end. Dress another in a ringmaster outfit. Or have a scary clown 'smashed' under the one that is closer to the ground.

post pics when you decide. Don't post pics if you just burn them, too sad.
