I was just wondering how everyone is standing their tombstones up.

I have short metal fence stakes for some and plain old rebar for others. I zip tie the tombstones to the stakes/rebar and then hide the zip ties with moss or spider webbing.....
Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick

The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

I've sandwiched thin PVC pipes (2) between two sheets of 1 1/2" foam. Corresponding rebar stakes are pounded into the ground and the tombstone slides over them.

like Terra said, or i use a 12" long/ 1/2" drill bit and drill 2 holes into the bottom and up threw the stone, then slide em over rebar or steel garden stakes

I hot glue a single 12" section of 1/2" PVC pipe directly to the back of my tombstones and then slide the tombstone over a piece of rebar stuck in the ground. My tombstones are all 2" thick as I don't glue 2 sections together like others do. I also have never found it necessary to use more than 1 piece of rebar per tombstone. It stays put and does not swivel, even in 40mph+ winds. It might wobble a little at those wind speeds, but it won't fall over or turn. I should mention that my average tombstone is also only about 1 1/2' tall, so maybe that's why I can get away with only have 1 piece of rebar.

This is what I want to do but to mount the PVC on the back of the tomb stone. I live in Georgia and the dirt... well clay actually is super hard. Too hard for even for wood stakes so the rebar stakes work well. I'm having an issue though. I tried just mounting the PVC with good old fashion black duct tape but the tape doesn't stick to the foam stones. Don't know if it's because the paint used for the stones. They are just the run of the mill store bought ones. Or is there a special adhesive I can use? i know you have to be carful with foam. Some adhesives could actually "melt" the foam.

How well does the hot glue hold up?

I've been thinking about using gorilla glue to glue some outdoor velcro ties to the tombstones (wal mart has a roll of about 100 in the electrical supplies area for $4) and then tying them to some bamboo garden stakes. That way I can store them mostly flat for next year.

I've been glueing stakes to the back of the Tombstones for the last couple years. I don't recommend this route because every year you have to redo them. I'm going to the rebar and pvc secured to the tombstone route today actually.
