Hey sports fans,
I'm looking to fill a space about 6-800 square feet with a thick layer of ground fog and was curious how much dry ice do you think I need?![]()

From what I understand (shrug), dry ice needs really hot water to produce good fog, and if you've ever seen those little counter displays, I would probably imagine you would need atleast a few pounds of the stuff. Plus you would need probably 10 pots of water to stick em in. Maybe u could use crock pots??? People will probably say use a fog mcahine with a chiller

Yeah I was playing around with some the other day and put about a pound in a pot of HOT water, the fog didn't even make it off the kitchen table and dissipated very quickly. In order to fill the space your talking about I'd have to agree with Sychoclown and say you'd probably need a massive amount.

Realisitcally, you'd probably be better off using a good fogger and some kind of chiller. Dry ice is great but it dissipates rapidly and is not cost effective. I used it a few times in my early haunting days and found it to be kind of a waste of money.

try using the dry ice to chill the fog from a fog chiller, it should be able to chill the fog enough and you will have to use much less.

I concur that a fogger and chiller would be the way to go. Fortunenately Pete your on the cost, so chilling it won't be as hard for someone like me, in the prairies of Canada where the temperature drops a little lower. So you might be able to get away with just regular water ice, being a cheaper route than dry ice. While we're talking about chillers, I'm wondering if I made a chiller for my fogger with dry ice would the fog be cold enough to stay fairly low to the ground if the outside temp could be as low as -10C. The fog would be in a MIB.

It is way to early to be that cold, I feel sorry for you. We have issues with our fog rising when it is below 55f.
