im sure i saw some last year which were very similar to netting, they really felt horrible and thats what im after, am i missing/imagining them?? help! not much time left!

Have you considered the webshooters ? They use compressed air to blow fine threads of hot glue and make pretty convincing web. Takes a little practice to do it well, so go find a bush or trash can to practice on before you try for the house. Price is $45 or less at several places.

Webshooters are great for the really authentic looking webs, but there's also beef netting for really cool looking ones:

I use the cheapy web in a bag, but I've had years of experience getting them looking just right. The hubby and I can get one of those bags looking really awesome, but I know they are pretty annoying and too much trouble to work with for most folks.
