So yah... this is a semi lame yet effective prop for those on a budget. Got a light ghost made from a simple foam ball and white material? Got a ceiling fan in one of your rooms that faces the front of your house? It's basically what we do with out guest-bedroom. We rig up a ghost from the 2nd floor guest bedroom from the ceiling fan with some transparent thread. Bring the blinds down just enough so you can't see the ceiling fan from the street. Put a strobe in the room facing up towards our ghost. Turn the fan on the lowest setting and viola. There is your flying ghost. Lame I know but out neighbors love it.
Far from lame! That's a great and simple idea for a neat effect. Remember your audience on Halloween night; kids! They'll look at that and be in awe, and they'll be talking it about it Monday morning at school!
Thought I would post a pic. Sorry for the ka-ka quality or lack there-of. It was just taken with a cell phone. I'll do video with the flip-cam on Halloween night.
You will see our flying ghost in the window I outlined in yellow. It's brighter in person.
