So I love halloween and finally have my own house to decorate but we live in a brand new neighborhood and everything is clean and classy and no one does any halloween stuff other than a cute-sy ghost family here or there.
I so want to do fun scary things outside but I do wonder what my neighbors will think. The inside of my house, for my parties are ALL decked out but I feel like some nut putting out a few standard tombstones
The neighbors have never said anything but i feel like i'm alone in my need to haunt LOL
For all you that go nuts with your outside props, do the neighbors care? Do they complain? Do they think its great? I was just wondering what all your neighbors think.
And yes i know as long as the HOA isnt sending me letter after letter I shouldnt care what they think but new homeowner ---> me .. I so dont want to be the neighborhood wacko LOL

I dont care. Some love it,some are freaked out. Some curse me on Halloween cause I give their kids nightmares.Just gotta roll with it.I dislike the XMAS decorations, dint complain however.
Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

My neighbors have never complained, and I've gotten some compliments from others. They are mostly fascinated by how I am pulling off some of the effects I use.

I have never had a problem. 20+ tombstones 4 fog machines 5-7 static props full fence around the yard (20 eight foot long panels) gates, lighting, music , etc. I have only ever heard "When are going to start this year?, I can't wait too see it."

My personal feeling is screw the neighbors if they don't like it. It's not like you're breaking any rules or keeping them up late at night with noise. You never know, you're display could encourage other less brave souls. I know that over the years my neighbors have not only been decorating more each year but there are more on the street putting things out, and I'd like to think it's cause my display sparks the creative child deep within them. I've never had any complaints, even get one couple that come and I don't think they have kids, always excited to know what's new for the year.
They live. They die. They return. Zombies.

I agree with aero. If they don't like it, then put up a stink when they do Christmas. Compromise a little bit. You'll allow them to have their stinkin' Christmas stuff up for a month and a half if you can have just a few days/nights.

If they're not complaining, go for it! I have many stuffy neighbors, but they all seem to accept the fact that I'm going to decorate the crap out of the yard one month out of the year. Don't let your thoughts outway your actions! Go for it!

I started out small four years ago, and have gotten bigger every year. The neighbors on my street don't do much, and seem oblivious to what I do. Which I actually appreciate when they come home while I'm out in the yard literally sweating up a storm, moving props and climbing up and down ladders! I get plenty of compliments from parents on Halloween night, however!!
