I'm pretty excited about finding this during a random search I did online. And I just ordered this for my Mad Laboratory and think some of you guys will love it too. It's on clearance right now over at QVC for about $10 and free S&H. They call it a Glow in the Dark Stringin It Tabletop Light, which looks like old rabbit ears with a string in between. The string vibrates and moves in wave form patterns through the controller and the pattern lights are customizable. There's a video of it on the QVC site right now. (QVC Product No. H164600)

It's made by Can You Imagine, who by the way is the wholesale mfgr of the Christmas FX boxes (checked my paperwork from my FX bought bought last year from ABC Distributing)--maybe that's a Group Buy opportunity for next year?? if someone is willing to organize it.

Anyway back to the GID string product, when I saw this I immediately thought of it sitting on the top of some mad lab equipment and giving the illusion of electricity flowing through it. I think it will make a cool effect. Even if you could build one of these it would probably be hard to for the price and it's got so many nice features as it is for the price I think it's hard to pass up.

If you are interested, I would order asap before it's sold out on clearance. The video presentation of it said once they sold out they will not be getting it back in. Oh, and whether or not this actually happens, by ordering today it estimates my free shipping should have the product arrive to me by Oct 29, but I'm not sure I would count on that 100%. I'm not planning on using this year anyway so for me it's not a problem. They do have other shipping options but I like the free.

Hope you guys like this find as much as I did.

That is indeed impressive. On the short list for additions to my lab for next year.

That is so cool - cannot beat the price and the effect for a mad scientist!
Can You Imagine makes some really interesting products, I grabbed a few other things on clearance at Spencer's that I'm looking forward to using this year.

Just got my delivery today from QVC on the Stringin It light, popped in some batteries and man is it awesome!!! The online video of it on QVC's site doesn't begin to capture how cool this light is. I wasn't planning on using it this year but now I'm all excited about incorporating it somehow. We're suppose to have rain Sunday and as a result I won't be setting up some of my nicer props that I had planned on putting out so maybe I'll set up a lab on the small front covered porch.

I'm picturing it in a mad lab with the scientist working on experiments and adjusting the controls every so often. My DH would love to have a remote for it, which it doesn't have unfortunately, which is why you'd want an actor to change the patterns, pulses, etc every so often. It does have a demo mode so it might not be necessary but I suspect the battery life could be limited since the string really gets put through it's paces. This light is just mesmerizing and will look great at night in a haunt and I think the kids when they see it and see how it changes patterns and colors will be hanging out in the science lab for a while just watching it. One might even want to ask for an lab assistant from the ToTers to monitor and adjust the light too. I'm thinking that the scientist can hand out candy in the lab too--maybe something that he's just whipped up in the lab.

The guys at Can You Imagine made it to work with 4 AAs and it has a jack for an adapter, which I will definitely be picking up at some point as I think it will get a work out.

QVC still has it in stock on Clearance, and still free shipping and handling, and if a mad lab is in your future, I highly recommend picking it up before it sells out.

BTW QVC was great purchasing from and UPS delivered it 2 days earlier than expected, so great buying experience.
