Has anyone made their own Flame retardant? Does it work?
I had found some recipes online:
Nonpermanent Flame Retardant
2.5 ounces borax
2 cups boiling hot water
Combine the borax and boiling water in a bowl and stir until all the borax is dissolved. Pour into a spray bottle, shake, and spray onto the clothes. Don’t rinse. Let dry before dressing the person in the clothes. Reapply the spray after each wash.

..............and
Flame Retardant
1 ounce water glass (sodium silicate)
9 ounces water
Mix well. Wash and rinse article completely before applying this solution. Soak fabric in solution. Hang up to dry.
CAUTION: Water glass is caustic to skin and toxic upon ingestion. Wear gloves and handle carefully. As always, keep water glass away from children.
