I wanted to make some columns or pedestals for these werewolf gargoyles. Well I ran out of time for making stuff. So i went to Garden Ridge and found a ton of different ones. I chose these. Should I paint them?

I think they look fine as is. Maybe distress them is all to get the old well worn look.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

I concur with Terror Tom. However, now that I look they do look kinda WHITE in with all that black and gray.. Maybe give them a gray coat, then white over top and wash the white before its dry?

What do you mean by "wash" the white before it dries. I sponged my tombstones so I am not sure how to do the washing part.

Ah yeah, sorry I wasn't clear. I found the technique on this forum:
Upgrading 30 year old foam tombstones
He also gives a link to a how-to:

Great find! I ended up buying pillars too, not enough time to build everything I wanted this year. I love the scroll work on yours, they're perfect for a cemetery.
I've learned if your gut is telling you to do something, it probably needs to be done. Dulling down that white will take them to a whole new level. (That said, I may not get mine painted...no time! lol)

No time needed...3 minutes with very thin (watery) black and/or green paint. Start from 'bottom' and pull the paint up and let dip back down. Just a few strokes is enough to take the new sheen off and add some mold looking distress. No artwork needed. Throw brush away. Done.
The skull at the top of the arch is awesome. Be sure he gets just a hint of lighting so people will notice him good.

I am having a bit of a lighting issue. I have four flood lights and some strobes but it still isnt right. I need to play around with it. I did pick up some of those small LED lights that clip on them to but I dont want to run the batteries down so I have not used them yet. I will hit those with some paint tonight. thanks.

Are your columns for sale? need stats. Looking for one to match, but if inexpensive enough could buy 2
