I finally finished my ScareFX inspired Rocking Granny prop. I'm very pleased at how well she turned out. It took a bit of trial and error, since I didn't use a wiper motor for the movement. I started the project with a 24 RPM DC motor, but it didn't have enough torque to move her properly. I finally switched to a 25 RPM AC motor I had lying around and that made a big difference. The only disadvantage of this motor is that it's intermittent duty--meaning it shuts off when it gets hot, then restarts after it cools down. I figured that's fine for this prop--she'll rock a bit, then stop and start again in a random fashion (just like a real Granny would). I'm going to add a muffin fan to try to cool the motor faster when it stops.
I also wanted to try something different in the design by having her feet on the ground, like she is actually pushing off and rocking herself. I used a wooden dowel rod thru some 3/4" PVC pipe to make some hip joints so here legs would swivel up and down with the rocking motion. Gave her some knee joints, too. I also did the same thing in her shoulders so I could have her hands mounted on the arms of the chair.
She didn't want any credit, but I have to thank Creeepycathy for sending me the mask, wig and shirt I needed to make this prop. It wouldn't have turned out anywhere near as good without her help. Thanks, Cathy!!

See what you think of her:

I thought I had a pic and video of the motor mount and hookup, but I can't find it. I'll take another one and get it posted.

Thanks for all the compliments, everyone!
