i just got back from wally world.
picked up one of the fly ghosts.
its a 25' shoelace that a mechanical ghost runs back and forth on.
sound activated, mechanical arms and scary sounds included.
only thing it doesn't have is good looks.
after removing the cheesey ghost exterior, this is what i'm left with.
i figured some cheese cloth, longer arms and perhaps a styro face, bring bring this cheap item into the realm of the undead.
has anybody taken on this project, and if so, i'd love to see em.
any advise on weight restrictions?
thx

I added a styro head to mine and 2 pieces of ratty cheesecloth. I left the original white fabric on it so that it took much less cheese cloth to cover. The head covered the corny black face. Weight doesn't seem to be an issue.
We still call it the "mooing" ghost though. The sound is awful!

Here's what I did to one about five years ago:

I used a blucky head, glued some bridal veil material to it, added some red LED eyes, glued some cut out ping-pong ball sections over the eyes and added some cheesecloth to the arms.
It ran fine, even with the added weight of the 9 volt battery for the eyes.

I put a mask w/ fiber optic enhanced eyebrows over the head portion and bent back the arms. I angled it so it would come in just short of people as they entered a hall way but would also be seen from another portion of the haunt as it traveled back. I just let it coast back and forth as the screams called to it.

if ya take 2 dirt cheap props and throw em together, this is what you end up with.

for the time/money invested, i'm content. i'll throw it up close to the corner of my property, and hopefully it will startle a few peeps when they come round the fence.
due to the embarrasing consturction of the clown, i felt the need to sew all the hot glued seems in the outfit. (so it would last out doors)
the spooking moo-ing sounds seemed better suited to a tortured clown than a creepy ghost.
you'll have to excuse the mess, halloween came to town.

Oh my heavens it DOES moo! That's hilarious. I love what everyone is doing with them, so much better than the original. May have to find one for myself. I wonder how hard it would be to disconnect the moo? Although it does add a certain charm lol.
