Just got my first 1000W low lying fog machine to fog my front yard for my graveyard scene. Instruction manual not too descriptive. It says pour liquid and drop some "ice" in the reservoir. Is that regular fridge ice or dry ice? Can I use dry ice and does it have any benefits? Bought unit from Spirit Halloween store. Thanks in advance.

ice will work, dry ice will work even better/take longer to melt.

that being said, dry ice hates metal. (it will actually chirp kick and scream if ya try to forcefully hold a piece of steel to it)

if your res only has styrofoam on the side, throw a piece on the bottom also.

Sounds like your particular machine uses chilled fog juice. Try cooling it to just above freezing in your deep freeze.

Thanks for the reply guys. Have to test out the machine tonight to see how much of my yard it covers. i will try to chill the fog liquid too.

My machine only has Styrofoam on the sides. I'll have to find a thin peace since the reservoir is not that deep. That should be fun...blah.

Don't chill your fog juice!!! Your fogger works by heating the juice until it vaporizes. Cooling the juice would be counter-productive.

Nice low lying fog effect, what kind of fog solution did you use?

Thanks! Glad someone else has a love for the Spooky Tree!

I use Froggy's freezin fog juice and 30 lbs of dry ice for each fogger.

Wrong--the fogger works by heating the fog juice to make the fog, and then it's supposed to chill the fog after it's made but before it leaves the machine. Cooling the fog juice will only make the machine work harder to heat it up to make the fog.

Was looking for directions on how to build one since lots of people on here say it's cheap and easier than paying $115 for a Vortex one.
