Hi everyone,
Has anyone ever done a fire in the window effect? Or have any ideas of how to create that effect?
We've always done boarded up windows but since our theme is hell this year I thought it would be cool to try a fire in the windows effect instead. I need something quick and easy. Don't have much time and have too many windows to do the faux flame with fans and silk.
So...any ideas?
thanks,
MsM

I'm wondering if doing that won't cause more problems than it's worth. You'd probably have at least a few people calling the fire dept.
"Waiter, there's a hair in my soylent green!"

I've done this before, and yes, I have had the fire department called...but that was only because it was a good 4 weeks before Halloween. If you're still after a great fire effect...you can always just go with Mark's Hallowindow dvd. The new version has "Fire!" as a bonus. It looks Great!

If you have some red beacon lights, strobe lights with a red gel and (optional) a silk flame light you can make the room look on fire. I took these items and had them reflect off of a back wall. Here's a vid:

Another easy way is to get out your video camera and record a real fire in your fireplace. Then project that onto the window.

Thanks for the responses.
Hallowindow isn't an option...wouldn't get here in time
Not worried about the fire department being called....I live on a dead end with 4 other neighbors and they already know we are crazy
Thanks for sharing the video Terra. Cool effect! I have a red strobe light....wonder where I can find a beacon light. I'll have to check out some electronic stores. I have seen red siren lights here...do you think that would have the same effect? Probably not since they go 360 degrees eh?

MsMeeple do you have a set of Christmas lights that has the little controller function box so you can change the setting to chase, flicker, glo and a few more settings? If you do you have almost everything you need to get the fire flame flicker. Takes about 30 mins to build a flicker box that can handle two lights. Put a blue and red or orange light in a outlet and watch them flicker like flames. Flicker Light Controller Made from Christmas Lights
Here's a video that shows the effect you can get....change the light bulbs to the red and blue and it will look like flames.
