So I had been reading up and looking at what others had done for Cemetery gates and trying to decide what to do. Didn't really want to mess with carving columns out of foam and I wanted it really big. So I spent a bunch of time looking at gates on Google Image Search. The answer came to me while I was at my local metal store. They have a computer setup to cut patterns out of sheet metal so out of curiosity I had them price out 5 tall letters for my cemetery name. It was $62 cut out of 16 gauge steel. I figured I had the rest of the materials to build it in my scrap metal leftovers pile. I picked up the letters the next day. And welded it the following day.
I figured since I had the welder and the other pieces I could build it easier (for me) this way and it should last forever nearly. The letters are welded to a piece of 3/4 inch steel tubing and then bolted to 2 8 foot pieces of 1 3/4 tubing. I drove two 8 Foot long T posts into the ground and then carefully slipped the whole thing down over them.
I plan on building PVC & 1X2 Gates that will swing in them in the future but since I'm running out of time for this year I just hung a piece of chain across it to discourage kids till the night.

That looks really nice!
They live. They die. They return. Zombies.

That looks GREAT!
I would love to have a local metal supplier that could do letters for that price.
