    Hi All,

This forum ROCKS! I have promised my kids for years that we would go all out for Halloween, and this is the year. I have been bit by the Halloween bug.

Quick question. Is this the type bulb that people are using for lightnig effects:

That's the one, alright. I use two of those along with two white photofloods - a blinding effect.

    Thanks for the reply!!

Otaku - Question for you. As this is my first year doing this, I am just using one of the Christmas Tree FX boxes for the lightning effect (next year I will upgarde). As I only have one, I was just going to run two lights. In your opinion, should I use two blue bulbs or a white and a blue. One light will point at one side of the front of my house and the other at the other side.

    Thanks again for the help!!

I used two of the christmas fx boxes (L&R channels) a few weeks ago at an annual event. I searched quite a while for bulbs. I bought a few photo flash bulbs and though they worked great, don't bump them when lit, they will lose the filament. I settled on using 500 watt shop lights like the one below. The FX box is 500 watts. (These little boxes rock for the money.) I set them on the ground shining up into the trees. I was really happy with how they looked. With a 100 watts/channel x 4 the sound was awesome. I pointed a few speakers away from where I wanted it to go, bouncing it off hard objects. It blended the sound well. As far as the lights, I set my haunt up in a few different locations so I really needed something durable as it relates to the bulbs. The lights below were 10 bucks at Lowes. Just a thought.

I'd go for the white and the blue. The blue isn't "blue" light, like a blue floodlight, it's more like an arc welder flash. Test the bulb locations to see where you'll get the best blend of the two colors.

Anyone have a full tutorial on this? I don't have an Xmas tree light controller and wouldn't know how to get one working with these for the lightning effect.
