Does anyone know where I can buy a spiderweb that is rigid rather than made out of string/rope? I need a spiderweb that does not need to be anchored on all sides in order to keep its shape.

If not does anyone have any ideas on how to make one inexpensively?

They're easy enough to make-- I made one out of glow-in-the-dark yarn a few years back for a church spook alley. It looked cool under blacklight... and, because it was yarn, it was inexpensive and I didn't mind tearing it down and tossing it at the end of the night.

All I did was tie the cross-pieces to pushpins and fan them out where I wanted the web to be. Anywhere the yarn crosses-- like the middle-- you wrap it around the piece it crosses. When you have all the cross-pieces set up, you just tie the end to the center of the web and wrap it around each cross piece as you spiral out from the center... easy peasy. It does take maybe 10 minutes or so to set up... but it is an inexpensive alternative.

    Edit in:
Read the question wrong... you want something rigid-- just use the same concept only with wire-- craft stores sell a variety of wire... you can paint the wire with glow in the dark paint if it doesn't quite stand out.

I think you could still use yarn or twine if it was dipped in fabric stiffener or glue made for outdoors then laid out to dry before putting up. (Perhaps a coat of clear sealant after it dries) Wires come in all colours now too.

How large do you need it to be? Kmart has two different sized ones that have a rigid outer frame and hold their shape quite well. I believe the "expensive" one is something like $2.69 at the moment.

I'm thinking maybe 2 feet across or so? How big is the Kmart one? I'll have to make a trip there.

Worth checking out Kmart then. I can't say exactly how big the larger size was but in that ballpark.
