I bought the Yorick puppet but I have a problem with it. When I start up my bought copy of Voice Changer Diamond and launch the Yorick program, the sound stops. Works fine with everything else though. I didnt find the email from the guys at Imagineering so I thought I'd post it here. I'd hate to think I built a facade and cant get it to work. Any thoughts??

I wonder if sequence of events is the culprit? Do you start Yorick puppet up first and then the Voice Changer, or visa versa? Give that a shot, and see if that works. It might also be a problem with your sound card settings.

If you are using Windows you can try these options

    1) Press ALT and TAB simultaniously to minimize the screen
    2) Press ALT+ Enter to temporarally "window" the screen
    3) Right click on the Yorick program, click Properties then
Compatabilty mod, and Run program in Windows 98 mode.

Also if it still acts up...make sure the mic is turned on, in the system volume settings, and in the Yorick program.

    Hope that helps.

we're doing the sound separately, on a karaoke machine we bought at ValueVillage for under $10. The karaoke machine has echo, and we'll likely pump the audio out through some computer speakers as the karaoke machine only has one (crappy, paper-coned woofer) speaker.

I'd love to see your facade, tj ... I'll be posting pics of mine if I EVER finish it. Payday can't come soon enough, right?

That's what I've done too, you can find those Karaoke machines cheap at the Salvation army also. I like the echo effect for my Mirror, has a nice thundering echo effect like the wizard of oz.
& I was able to patch in an MP3 player to it for additional background sounds with the voice !

I have a couple of spectral ghostly sounds for a low background, when I talk it drowns out the spector sound. Thinking about doing something dif this year, using the patch in with my spare lap top instead of mp3 player, that way I can use a couple other sfx i have so there is a constant low chanting of dark priest sound file, then when a ToTers comes up & asks the mirror, I can cue up a file i have of a dark "ancient latin" priest quickly conjure up the spirit in the mirror, after the sound of thunder & a couple lightening blasts from the strobes, the mirror (in sleep mode) would come fourth with "WHO DARE'S disturb me !......" (the echo is perfect) then interact with ToTer.......ya a lil theatrical perhaps, but I've always loved the wizard of Oz when he tries to go overboard with effect to scare them

Being a karaoke machine the background sound comes thru til I use the mic over it. Mine has the old tape players, i use a tape with a jack line from Orchard supply $10

I too had compatability issues with my on-board sound card and running the puppet. Once I installed an old Soundblaster card, it worked okay. But, I still had issues trying to run an echo effect using some freeware/shareware programs. The input from my microphone would delay and would have really made controlling the puppet difficult. Then I found Ultrawave Guitar Multi Fx. It worked great! Plus, you can tweak the sound to your liking.

    Hope this helps.

Also, try using a game pad to control the puppet. It's much easier than using the keyboard. You'll just need to map the keys needed for the puppet control. It works really well for complete control.

We'd all love to see your facade. Picture provide great ideas and inpiration for others.
