I live way out of town, so on halloween my grandma lets me and my friends decorate her porch for trick or treaters (this only started last year). This is mostly because we are 16 and don't have much else to do on halloween-but still love the holiday.

The problem it, though, that last year we got barley any trick or treaters. They just milled right on past. We wanted to do the old dress-like-a-scarcrow-act-fake-and-make-them-pee-thier-pants trick, but we never got the chance. I think one big problem was we had skimpy decorations....it was very lame. Secondly, my grandmas house is on top of two yard terraces. Kids may of been confused on how to get up to the house, which the only way is the sidewalk on the side.

So, my question to you is: Do you have any tips on how to light the way up the sidewalk, and make the porch look/sound epic, without blowing my life savings?

    Pleasenthanks,

Small Pumpkins to light the way & I always like one or two Big things instead of a lot of little things. A Big Grim Reaper, finding or making Skulls are easy some Black material. White Boney Hands, maybe a lantern.

Use string lights in purple or orange. Or if you have great weather (and safe placement) you could use luminaries.
