We want to put a strobe on our roof to light up our huge spider. Will a strobe hold up to rain?![]()

throw it in a clear plastic bag and zip tie it closed around the chord.

i have a few older strobes that just have a thin plastic film on the front. (thinner than a pop bottle)
i've had em for years and they have never got hot enough to melt or discolor the plastic.
if you are concerned you could cut the bottom outta a 1 gallon clear container (juice etc) and build a plastic dome for it. i'd also do my best to protect the end of the chord (a little plastic wrap will work wonders.)

depends on how much rain and to some extent what the case of the strobe light is made off, I had some a few years ago from walmart and the cases
were something like cheap pressed wood and if they got too wet, they started
falling apart or the bulbs would blow. I agree with the suggestions about building some kind of cover over them or putting them in bags, I'd hate to
go to the effort to put everything on the roof and have to go back up there
to replace a failed strobe light.

Strobe will/wont last as good as any other light. but if looking to afix for a few days/weeks - then yes go ahead and protect it baest you can, even from morning dew.
Make a drip loop for the extension cord, so you don't keep popping out any GFCI plugs.

Spirit sells "one" strobe that is indoor/outdoor use. Its ok...not very bright...battery operated. I use it to light a couple paper mache pumpkins...

I agree a clear gallon zip lock bag around it with the end of the zipper at the lowest point (facing the ground as it sits on the roof) & just a smidge open to allow cirulation should work well. I lalso ike the idea of a dome built of clear pop/juice bottles.
What's a "drip loop"? I think I may need one for a few of my cords since we get lots of wet weather in Oct. I normally cover the connecting points (where the ends meet) with plastic grocery bags & use electrical tape to seal it.Haunt to Live ... Live to Haunt
