    hello all...im new here...great site
i have been searching for answers but still dont know what i need so i figure ill ask straight out and hopefully get some help. I am working on hangman with wiper motor...i need to know cheap way to power..i see some talk of warts or bricks but do i need 12v 5a wart so i can convert AC power. i tried a 12v 2a and it didnt seem to run the motor.
biggest question tho is how do i figure out which wires to use on wiper motor...i have 1 with 6 wires and 1 with 4...i tried one using battery off my truck and only got it to run slow and not constant..hope i didnt burn it...but i didnt want to just try different wire combos and fry the motor or blow something up...
and is there a "best" position for motor linkage to legs ratio or placement?
    thank you

A hacked computer (ATX) power supply is cheap and has all the power you will need for your wiper motor, and for some other props as well. It will provide 12, 5 and 3.3 VDC.

I don't believe you burnt up your motor, I believe you connected to the park mode. Did it make one full turn then stop? If so you had it connected to the park setting.

I would take the motor back out to m y truck and keep trying each wire till you found the slow and fast settings. Tape the ground/negative wire to the wiper motor case and take the positive and go from wire to wire.

thanks for the replys...i did do a rotation of wires to no avail....im thinking since it has 5 wires it must be for intermittent wipers...and maybe i would need the controler to use all functions...dunno if i can bypass the relay...
i do have old cpu power supply...but dont know if i want something that big in my hanging man....thats why i was thinking the wart....something light...i guess i could set the power supply somewhere out of site and just run wires from it to motor...but then i need to figure out which wires coming out of atx are the right ones..lol...
