Have any of you experienced either of their rocking figures rocking violently within a few minutes of turning them on? The one I'm having trouble with is Grandpa; usually within a minute he is causing the rocking chair to tip back much farther than it should. The rocking chair he is in is actually quite heavy so I was surprised when this happened.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

you should place him by a wall so if he tips all the way back he wont fall off the chair and onto the floor can you return him maybe you got a defective prop?

I have Grandama and found that if she wasn't in the chair just right she would get of balanced and either go to fast or stop the rocking action. I put her in a glider rocker instead of the old fashioned kind and she rocked away all night last year. Still had to work with her placement in the glider though.

You've got it all wrong. He isn't tipping DESPITE being in a heavy chair. He is tipping BECAUSE he is in a heavy chair. I was working on my rocking granny prop earlier today and I had the exact problem. Mine is in an extremely light chair and couldn't get rocking at all. She would rock three or four times, but because she couldn't get going enough, her next few rocks would cancel out the motion and she would come to a complete standstill and start over with her rocking attempts. I added a 5 pound weight to her and turned her back on and in about 10 seconds she rocked so violently that she tipped over!
In my case, I put her on a diet and cut weight until I got the perfect rocking motion. I'm not sure how you can solve your problem though, short of getting a lighter rocker to put her in. I guess the good news is that you now have hour problem identified which will make it easier to work toward a solution. Good luck!I wish everyone was as kind as creepycathy!

I have the rocking granny and used her last year. I had the same problem but figured it out pretty quickly. I first used some green hobby wire used to make wreaths and such and wired her to the rocking chair as to not allow her to slide back and forth. I also put a piece of that foam used to keep carpets from sliding around on the floor under the metal base. Next, I taped some foam rubber pieces, sort of thick, on the back bottom of the chair to keep it from rocking to much. I had the problem that the chair was moving around because it was rocking so hard. The foam chunks on the bottom of the curved section stopped all that for me. But it took several times to get the right size piece. Good look.
