I've seen many, many discussions of the various types of fog chillers where people have expressed opinions regarding which is best and why. What I have never found, however, is a head-to-head comparison of a trash can and a Vortex-type chiller using the same fogger in the same conditions. I was getting ready to build a 33 galllon trash can cooler with 24 feet of dryer tube for a 1300 watt fogger (to be used outside), but I was wondering whether a Vortex-style would work better. I don't need speculative opinions, but I would like to know if anyone has actually compared the two styles with the same fogger.

1300 watts is a lot of heat to chill. Maker big!

The trash can gives great results without much effort or cost. I'm not sure the gain from a vortex is enough (if there is any) to justify building one.

The trash can also has the advantage that in the middle of the night, you don't have to worry that you ice has melted into a block or that the bottom chamber has filled with water.
