    Looking for Blood Ideas

My husband and I have been setting up our display for several years and it keeps getting bigger but we have one constant problem... blood. Our display sits in front of our home for several weeks and is not protected from the weather so whatever we use has to withstand wind, rain and sun.

Just to give you an idea of the display we do like cannibal barbeque theme with bloody plates and a grill. Last year we even had a body part pie.

In the past we've tried different mixtures but the fatal flaw is that to get a realistic look we usually have to incorporate corn syrup. The one year we tried putting the corn syrup mixture on thin and then coating it in a clear varnish. it worked for a little while until it rained. then the varnish coating cracked and the corn syrup all washed away.

This year we're back to debating on what to use. I've tried searching the internet but everything seems to be for just one night or will wash away with water. Our last resort seems to be using some sort of paint but we're worried that it will look really fake. Any suggestions??? Thank you!!!!

I've seen a bunch of melted red wax, and then clear coated....it looked pretty realistic at a little distance..... Don't know how close people are getting to your blood...

Easy. Get crimson artist acrylic and gloss medium in the fine arts section at something like Hobby Lobby. Water it down a tad then paint and splatter away! It will not come off and lasts forever.

Just a thought, but you might be able to get some clear varnish or acrylic and put red dye in it?
I highly doubt that would come off

I've never used it but it seems like it could be your answer, Permablood.

Or you could just drip some hot glue and paint it your desired shade of red, then coat it with a clear varnish of some sort. If it's not an overly active, hands-on type prop, you could probably even just get away with the red coloring on hot glue.
