Alright guys....I'm on a very limited budget by now.....but I'm trying to figure out how to make some torn flesh/skin to hang on butchers meat hooks.
Corpsing some skulls and 3' "buckys" gave me the idea with the panty hose/carpet adhesive.....
but I don't know if there's a better way. Obviously cotton/liquid latex would be the best way, but again...the budget that's left for this year won't allow it.
Please throw me your ideas.
Thanks in advance,
eVil

I was thinking maybe applying the carpet adhesive to cheesecloth pieces... letting that dry, then staining it, then applying GS foam to one side, and painting that side bloody?

Great Stuff makes great body organs and entrails, but I've never thought it looked like skin.
Undead and loving it!

I used GS foam for the entrails and intestines.......but I REALLY want some chunks/pieces of skin/flesh hanging from those hooks.....
I think I'm gonna try the cheescloth/carpet adhesive and panty hose/carpet adhesive tonight and see how they turn out lookin......
I'll keep you guys updated.....

paper towels and carpet latex cement.
I needed the dry leather look for my wall and you would be very surprised by how this actually has the feel of skin. You can't really see it in this picture but the ends had little globs of the carpet latex and it feels just like meat, wet and gooey feel.

This leg was made out of chicken wire and covered in paper towels soaked in the carpet latex and so were the body parts on the box.

This is what the carpet latex by looks like when it drys

madmax: That is AWESOME looking!!!!
1 question for you, did you actually dip the paper towels into the carpet adhesive? or did you brush the adhesive on to them?

I use latex gloves and work the carpet latex cement into the paper towels. I usually pour some in a lid (any type of container) and dip the paper towel in it (working into the towel with my hands) and squeeze it out if it's too wet. That is what happen to the carpet latex in one of the above pictures...I poured some out and got busy doing something else and forgot about it.
I know I did this whole prop from one gallon ($9.00 back then) and its 7 foot tall. There's a few pictures in that album that will show you how thin the skin is after it drys ...here's one.

This will dry out in a dried out "skin" color or you can paint it. I use the cheap walmart spray paint (usually just a brown and black or red)and I paint the prop/skin while it's wet. This lets the paint blend into the skin and you don't get sharp lines.

madmax.....
I tried the pantyhose/carpet adhesive last night, and I am not very happy with it at all.
I am going to give the paper towel combo a try and I'll let you know how it turns out for me.
Thank you very much for your input, I definitely appreciate it!!!
