Ok, I want to make a puking zombie prop. I am looking at pumps to buy. I am looking at 250gph pond pumps and 500gph pond pumps. I want it to actually look like puke, and not just a trickle.
For those that have used pond pumps for either a pond or prop, which would be better to use?
Do they take time to start up? I would like to either have it puke to the sound effects or just go constant. If it takes time I will have it go constant.
Or is 250 too much?
This is the effect I am going for:

You need a sump pump - the output from a garden pump is no where near what you need for that effect. A light weight sump pump is going to be cheaper than a heavy duty pond pump and last a hell of a lot longer.
To make this would be easy. Get the sump pump with a floater switch (it turns on and off with the different levels of water)
If you have two containers or tubs, Put a small 1 inch hole (to start) in the top tub. place the second tub beneath it with the sump pump inside.
Now the only part is to figure the amount of water. when the water in the bottom tub reaches a certain level, the floater switch will suck a few gallons within a couple seconds and then shut off. The spewing puke will take some time to filter through the 1" hole before it kicks on again.
Add green food coloring and maybe a little soap for some sud LOL.
the 1" hole may be too large or small depending how frequently you want it to puke.
I LMFAO at this one!

I used a RV pump, the type used to clean out a RV waste tank and with it being a DC pump you can hook a turn signal fuse in the line from the power supply to the pump and you will get quick burst of puke instead of a steady flow. Mix in a can of cream corn and mashed peas into the water and it will look more like puke

The setup I was thinking of was this:
A CD player is playing puking sounds on a loop. It is going to a speaker that gets turned on when someone walks past the motion sensor. When the speaker turns on, the sounds are picked up to a Lighting FX Box that will turn the pump on and off to the sounds.
The pumps I were looking at are submersible, but not sump pumps.
How many gallons per hour is recommended?

You will more than likely need to use a relay with the fx box because the pump might pull more amps than the fx is rated for. Make sure you check both the fx box and the pump for max amps they can take.

Always go with the biggest you can afford. The flow can be controlled by clamping the flex pipe to restrict the amount of water coming out.

Hey MagicMatt - did you ever get this to work? What kind of pump did you use and how much did it cost?
