I've done some cursory searches here and at Monster Projects, but I can't seem to find the specific DIY help I need, so I thought I would see if anyone here has done this.
I am putting together a floating brain in a tank. I have the tank all set, water is ready to glow under black light, bubbles - check .... but no brain (so to speak).
I have a plastic brain mold, but I'm not sure what kind of product to make it out of. It needs to be water resistant, preferably not too heavy, and (of course) cheap if possible.
Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks!

what about spray foam?
you'll need a release on the mold.
also, extra weight in the bottom to keep it up right and have the correct bouyancy.

Maybe use fishing line on the bottom of the spray foam to keep it in the right place?

I was worried about the foam getting water-logged throughout the night, thus leading to droopy brain?
The weight and fishing line are excellent suggestions, too!

I bought a latex brain at one of the big box stores or Spriit store a few years ago for my lab scene. I think it was under $8 US. You could use fishing line to tether it to the bottom of the tank and some balls (pingpong?) inside the brain to make it float. I suspended mine in air within a jar, but if I were using water like you are would I would consider attaching two plastic eyes that can float to the brain using latex tubing so that it looks like optic nerves.
