This is my second year having a costume party and last year the small amount of lighting i did really did not do the trick.

The party is in my basement and I would like to create a very creepy effect (the theme of the props this year is zombie graveyard apocalyspe) but at the same time there still needs to be enough light for people to see.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated

Use some sort of colored lights for general illumination of the basement and then LEDs for the areas of interest. I would suggest homemade LED spotlights to accent props and maybe the snack table. LEDs are great because they are so tiny you can hide them anywhere and they are almost invisible unless you look straight down the spotlight tube.

I have been building some strings of LED spotlights for my yard haunt this year. I used a few automotive accent LED spots last year to great effect and liked it so much I have figured out how to make my own this year; it's really simple! You can build them very inexpensively; maybe under $10 total. I'll post a how-to later this week on the site. Good luck!

Indirect Lighting is alwaays best. Lighting all depends on the size of the room, furniture, props, availble electric supply. Put the large strobes under furniture and pointing up in the corners (keeps them out of your eyes.

I'd do the dry ice thing to get a floor-level fog (since it's inside). Any lighting will be enhanced by this too.
