Okie, I am doing a pirate themed haunt this year and this will be the peice at the very end where the ToT's will get there reward for braving the haunt! So I came up with the Idea to incorporate the candy bowl with the treasure chest.
First I found this AWESOME CHEST at a garage sale for $15!!!
Then I cut out a peice of wood to fit on the shelf in the chest, I cut a hole out to fit my candy bowl. And stapled wads on paper to it to create texture.
Then I paper mached over that to create my base.
Then I painted it GOLD!!!!!
Then I glued Gold coins to the top. I will add jewels and such later but I ran out of glue sticks tonight and was too excited not to post! lolol

Great deal on that old chest! I've been building a collection of chests myself for my pirate garage haunt and I've paid a lot more for dome-top trunks like that. And I love your idea of incorporating the candy dish into it. Your TOTs should get a big kick out of that. Nice job!

Nice job! We did the same thing the first year we did pirates, and put chocolate coins in the bowl. One thing we noticed was that a lot of kids tried taking plastic coins from the treasure, and not the bowl! Keep an eye on yer booty!
