YouTube - Window haunt 2007 flying crank ghost
can someone explain to me how this guy did the ghost in the window? Not the flying crank ghost but the one that seems to walk in and out of the window. If you look at 49 and 50 seconds in the video you can see what looks like a TV below the window and a sheet of glass above the TV but I cant tell if thats all there is to this illusion or not. They guys says its a peppers ghost but from my research it must be an adaptation of a peppers ghost, not an actual peppers ghost. Im assuming I could do a peppers ghost with a TV and glass below the window but then I would have to black out the area around the glass and I like being able to see through the actual glass that the ghost is on! Thanks a lot for all your help!!!

I think that is a TV and a piece of glass.

I agree. It looks like the reflection trick. I would guess they created some video of a person walking (with some nice blurring in AE) and the have a TV pointed upwards towards a piece of plastic or glass at a 45 degree angle behind the window. You are seeing the reflection on the glass.

That's really pretty much all there is to the effect. The bright "ghost" image is reflected on the glass or plexiglass panel. Since you can see through the reflection it makes for a very nice ghost effect. You just need an old TV, a video player, a video of the "ghost" and I recommend a sheet of plexiglass. It's called "peppers ghost" effect. In the video you posted the TV is placed on the floor facing the ceiling and the plexiglass is set above the TV at an angle so that from outside the house you see the reflection of the TV on the plexiglass, but not the TV.

Check out the time index at :50 on the video. The camera pulls back as the "ghost" is walking from right to left and you can see it run off the edge of the plexiglass which is at an angle.

Would this effect work for a second floor window or would the viewing angle make this too difficult?
