Pretty much finished the Walk the Plank scene in my haunted pirate garage over the weekend.
This year, I focused on just creating the midship hull portion along one wall. It looks a little cheesy and incomplete in daylight, but the corners of the garage are cast in shadows at night, so the square edges should not be so noticeable. Next year I'll try to add a bow and stern section to make the ship complete, but for now, it's time to move on to other scenes.
I still need to add one key ingredient: a Bucky skeleton falling backwards off the end of the plank. I'll light him up with a red spotlight. I also have two DJ Hydro lights to cast a rippling water effect on the lower hull and the cannons will have flashing lights inside. Not shown is the wood dock walkway that parallels the ship's hull. I need the spare room in my garage to put up some partition walls, so the walkways sitting outside my garage in two 4' x 6' sections.
The scene was a fair amount of work, but everything breaks down into pieces for easy storage. The "hull" is simply 4' x 8' sheets of 3/8" barn siding plywood. The railing is an old wood ladder and the masts are cardboard sonotubes cut in half down their length. I reused three of the window cannons I made for last Halloween, so unfortunately I won't be able to give my neighbors a broadside this year.
Thanks for looking!

That is absolutely outstanding! I love how you used the garage wall and created such a terrific looking vessel there. The star backdrop looks great too. Wow I don't think I've ever seen someone do a pirate ship inside. Can't wait to see the other items on your Plan B!
BTW I remembered your cannon windows from last year's pics. Nice repurposing.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement everyone - it's keeping me going.
@ReaperRick - I'm in the process of setting up the partition walls that separate the Dungeon, Captain's Quarters, Cannibal Corner, and White Swan Tavern scenes. I hope to have those scenes up by next Monday, and I'll post those pics to my Dead Man's Cove 2010 album.
