I have these awesome purple LED lights that I always put on my deck and trees every Halloween. I'm kicking up the scare factor of my haunt this year and my husband doesn't think the lights would go with my theme.
Plus, every year the only real comments I get is having those lights. Some people still don't get into outdoor lights other than Christmas.
I would love to hear opinions on that type of lighting. TIA

I think that if you like the lights and don't think it will ruin the whole effect then why not. Do you have any pictures of the lights and maybe you could think about moving the lights to the back of your display instead of having them on tree's/decking
Thanks

Not my thing, but as always to each their own. I would use blacklight or just enough to light props etc. If they work for you and you like it, DO IT. That's what is cool about this, everyone's flavor comes out.
I dig the vintage Halloween decorations: Beistle jointed skeletons, pumpkins and witches, blow mold pumpkins, ghosts, vampires, skeleton Bride and Grooms, assorted monsters and of course graveyards.

I always put the purple lights on the house for the entire month of October, but that is just me. I really don't feel like it takes away from anything.

I have both purple and orange lights up, so to each their own.

My family did not get Halloween lighting until I did up my grandmother's house last year. Now they are converted.

If I had a larger budget, I would be incorporating a lot of those lights into my haunt this year; orange and purple are traditional and fit the new framing device lovely. It's floods this year, string lights and floods next year. Oh, the advantages of finally giving in to some repeated decorations in a haunt.

Last year I used very tiny blue and purple lights strung around our fence and in the trees. I actually thought the effect was very cool, although they were relatively distanced from the walkway which was where my props were centered.
To each their own. Personally, I like seeing 'em.

I'm not really into orange and purple lights in the trees but it all depends on your themes and how you use them. I do see them as a perfect compliment to blow molds. I see them as a festive Halloween decoration and not frightening.
Depending on their usage they wouldn't need to go to waste ina scary haunt. Perhaps they could be used inside a witches cauldron to illuminate it. Perhaps inside a sign. Lighting/lining a hallway in a walkthorugh. Behind a wall poking through small holes for pin-point illimination. When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.

It depends on the look you're going for. One of the big huge things taking away from their scariness or setting of a mood is that everyone has them or knows where to get them, having seen them in just about every store for the past month.
What will make your decorations stand out is to do things that everyone else isn't doing.

I like to use lights if they will add to the haunt. This year i want to use Christmas lights that chase on a slow fade pattern with jack-o-lanterns. I've got the hook up on pumpkins and I've grown a few of my own and I want to carve various patterns and cut a hole in the back or bottom and put a few of each color in each Jack to use the whole strand.
I'll post pics as soon I do this.
