Before i go and waste money on things i don't need to, i was hoping you good folks could give me yay or nay on some old power supplies i have kicking around the house.

i'll be using them with wiper motors for a hang mans rig (pvc legs/foam feet) ouija board and possibly a spider victom.

so here are the power supplies in question.

    an old boss adapter.

12v 1500mm. i though this would work for one of the props without much load (ouija, perhaps the hang man)
    am i mistaken?

i'm clueless when it comes to the other 2.
they are both power supplies for running those tiny halogen pot lights (20-60watts)
i had them given last year.

the first is a smaller unit for powering just one light.

    12v
    input 120v 0hz 0.5a
    output 11.5v 60w

and a much larger unit for powring multiple sets.

    120v 0hz 1.87amp primary
    12v 20 watt secondary
    input 120vac 2 amp
    output 12 vac 20 amps

    help!
will either of these be useful or will they just fry my motors?
if the amp's are too high, is there an affordable way to reduce them / run multiples?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thx

Both will work, the motor will only draw the amperage needed

Those all have AC output. I believe your motor will be DC. Therefore they will not work.

too funny, i totally missed that.

i was sure the boss was a ac/dc adaptor, totally missed the big "ac adaptor" in bold print.

the other 2 i was clueless about.
thx for getting me think'n like i should be think'n, and not how i thought i was think'n.

i'm sure i have more, don't go too far.

Be wary of the 12 volt 5 amp ac to dc transformers listed on ebay for around 10 bucks with free shipping.
I recently ordered 4 or 5 of them and they don`t work on wiper motors.

They LOOK just like the ones sold by Monsterguts (which DO work btw) but these produce some kind of crazy intermittent little surges of power and are totally useless for my intended purposes.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    i just read

some wiper motors have a high draw at the start and can cause intermitten use when not enough amps are supplied. (twitchy intermitten motion)

    could this be the case?

That`s exactly the way these power supplies behave ......... but the one I got from Monster Guts works perfectly on the same wiper motor and they are both rated at 12 volt 5 amps.

Missed that, you would need a bridge rectifier to use the last two for a dc motor

There are a lot of LED's that operate on 12vdc or 12vac so you could use them for lighting.
