There are a ton of fonts available for the machine. There is a program that you can get that you can hook right up to your computer to get any font out there. That is my next purchase.
Just keep in mind that each cartige is at least $20 and the machine that works with 6x12 " paper is about $150. the one for 12x12" paper is about $250, so it's not an investment for just using during halloween.
You can use chip board in it. I haven't bothered getting the blade to use for that so I use the standard blade and use cardstock.
You can either make the lettering like I did like the old style stencil kits we used in school or regular lettering and place them anyway you want. You can also get sticky backed vinyl for it and that works well too. This template I just painted it. I used regular lettering and practiced using a heat gun with it and it worked well. I justed printed what I wanted, used a piece of masking tape for painting walls and lifted the letters out only and put some glue on the back of them and placed it on my foamboard and used the heat gun on it to distress around it. I'll be digging out my hot glue gun tomorrow to try distressing the letters with that with the template.Vicky

I have a cricut but I find it to be quicker and easier just to print out my lettering on my computer, attach paper to the foam board, and cut right through the paper and foam with an x-acto knife.
BTW, if anyone's in the market for the machine, I got mine new for $80 and free shipping off ebay. No need to pay craft store prices.Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

I also just print out the lettering on my Microsoft Office. I use size 90 font, then just masking tape it to the foam, and "trace" the letters out with an x-acto blade. It's cheap and works perfectly.

These are three of the tombstone I made with the cricut. I just did the lettering and design then used a hot glue gun to carve out the lettering.

The lettering is easy to get from anywhere and carve out, but it's nice to have the designs to use and I never thought of using the glue gun before someone posted about using it, sure saves a lot of time, stinks tho lol.Vicky
