While on the Gemmy site tonight I see that they are branching out and now selling Outdoor Living products like lanterns and such and something kind of cool and unique called "Butterfly Collection". It should start appearing in stores this fall and all kinds of places will carry them according to their website. They really do look like a living butterfly in a mason jar. I was thinking of adding one or two jars to my Witch's kitchen and potentially could see repurposing them into a mad scientist lab. Can't wait to see how this works. I wonder if it triggers based on sound (like tapping on the lid) or if the jar top is touch triggered.
Here's the link and they have a video of them and where each version will be sold. I've checked out a few of the stores online but haven't seen them listed anywhere yet. If anyone spots them, please post.
Found this other video that shows the wires. What do you guys think? Wonder how it would operate outside of the jar. Interestingly you don't see any cords or wires on the Gemmy website video. Still a cool product all the same.

That is amazing looking! I could totally see adding them to a witch kitchen. It says that they are activated by tapping on the lid, so they probably are sound activated maybe.
I wonder if they'll be doing fireflies? I miss fireflies...

If you go to the webpage for it (see link in original post) and click on one of the colored butterflies across the top, it will bring up the the product page for the collection. Then clicking on the colored butterfly you like will tell you who will be selling that version. I know, it's not a very obvious intuitive website design. I hate sites you have to explore especially if they fail to tell you to explore. As you will see however, Kmart, Lowes, and Cracker Barrel are listed so far.

I thought this was pretty cool, when I saw it on the Gemmy site...but the fact that it uses an AC cord instead of batteries RUINS the illusion.
I think they need to figure out how to make it work via DC power. B-
