I'm interested in making a pair of the cool corpse hand wall sconces from Haunters Hangout (http://hauntershangout.com/home/wallsconce.asp), but there are some aspects that I am not understanding from the tutorial:
1) What are the bracket/ring things that hold the top of the chain? I couldn't find anything like them at the hardware store.
2) What is the threaded(?) hollow "rod" that goes horizontally?
3) Are the PVC connectors that go around the back of the arm really just glued to the board?
4) I would like to have the hands hold PVC candles, but I'm not sure how to attach them - should I use the same type of "rod," only for support instead of to carry electrical wires? I know some folks here have had them hold various different things, but I'm not sure how...
All tips, pointers, and advice greatly appreciated!

1) It looks like the "eye" from a hook and eye latch.

2) It's a threaded lamp rod. You can get them in lighting sections of the hardware stores. They're used to custom build lamps, or extend the height of a lamp.
3) Yup. Glued.
4) If you're not going to wire it up, then you don't need the threaded lamp rod. As long as the candle isn't really heavy, I don't see why you could do without the rod/support and just use the arm's basic strength and the chain to support the candle. If it's got some weight to it, then do use something to support the arm - straight length of aluminum or anything similar.

I just made a new one out of paper mache. I used a wooden dowel to support the arm and hot glued the candle in place.
