This is my second pirate for this years haunt. My daughter held his hand on the way to the garage for corpsing. None of this stuff scares her even a little. I did layers of just straight staining with dark oak and honey oak.
My second project was to add the beard (since he is going to be the skeleton of Blackbeard the Pirate" complete with little bits of cloth tied into the beard that I aged. I figured the beard should be thin since this is a corpse so I used super strong Elmers glue stick and black thread.
Hope you guys like it so far. Next step is his clothes but they are still "aging" in the ground for another week.

Wow, looks great. I did my first corpsification of a Bucky last year and was very happy with the result. I like the beard. Nice work. I also have daughters that love this stuff.

SO CUTE! Your daughter, not the pirate :P Why do little girls LOVE skeletons?? who knows! Mine is still afraid of animatronics that make noise, but she's only 2 so I think she'll grow out of it.
great looking pirate by the way! I'm going pirates for next year because I hope to get more ToT because PoTC4 comes out next year (with Blackbeard the Pirate no less!)

Thanks for all the nice comments!
Yah, she isn't even bothered by the animatronics. Too much like me.
While were were at Halloween City the other day she started "dancing" with the full sized "psycho" prop that shakes and screams....I hope the psychiatry bills aren't too high when she's older...

I love the hair. I have a bucky that I finished a few years back and I'm going to borrow your idea and add the beard. One question: What are you going to do to make him stand up? My problem is that Bucky is so heavy, I had to attach a thick metal poll at the bottom of his spine and then stick the pole in an outdoor umbrella stand. I don't like how it looks. Also, I find it very difficult to pose the Bucky. How are you going to pose the arms (what materials)?
