Last year, we added a haunted study to our display. We had a skeleton wearing a smoking jacket and holding a cigarette while he read a few books. This was also the scene that featured our changing portraits and our Grim Grinning Ghosts trio. I decided to create a few new books for this scene. Last year, the skellie was reading The Handbook for the Recently Deceased, but I thought he needed a better collection, and I'm loving the Dave Lowe technique for creating books!

I especially like the way the glowing medallion book on the right turned out!

Nice job Jess-o-Lantern. Can I ask what type of light you are using in the medallion book? It looks perfect for one of my projects but I haven't figured out how to get that effect yet.

Actually, I just carved a hole in the pages of the book to nestle a cheap flickering tealight from Dollar Tree in it. I put a thin sheet of "stained glass paper" between the candle and the front cover so it would just give off a gentle glow. I tried a few mini spotlights from Dollar Tree, but the candle was really soft and I liked the animation of the flicker it gives off.

Here's my latest addition! If I have time, I hope to create a dragon scale-bound book and a Monster Book of Monsters.
