2010 Parade float and pumpkin head gremlins

Here is our entry for our Octoberfest parade. I still have to add a sign and some containers to put our candy and things in that we will hand out.

The pumpkin gremlins are made out of pvc pipe that I heated and bent. Their heads are paper mache and spray foam that I carved. The big pumpkin is chicken wire with pvc pipe bent and added on the inside of the chicken wire to help hold its shape. We then added landscape fabric on the outside. There is a few more pieces of landscape fabric on the outside of the first layer that we stapled to the first layer and wadded up paper behind it ... this gave it a pumpkin shape. We added monster mud on the top of the fabric and then a coat of orange paint. I went back over that with black spray paint in the grooves. The pumpkin seeds are thin foam cut into shape and painted with a cream colored paint. The teeth I carved out of thicker foam and painted with the yellow paint. I lined the big pumpkin with orange plastic table clothes we had and spray painted that with yellow. Then we took gauze and spray painted it with the yellow paint and hung it down to look like pumpkin guts. His pumpkin guts that he's puking out is just white sheets that we put paper under and stapled in places.... spray painted that and then added the seeds.

Only thing we didnt do was add a third character that was going to be face down in the pumpkin guts with just his head, hands and feet sticking up out!
Over all its probably 12 ft tall!
