    Best motor for thrashing motion?

Ok, so, I'm making a spider victim. I posted another thread about using a wiper motor (or servos) to make it move... Well, the servos dont have the strength or range of motion to make it move enough (give it leverage, it doesnt move far. Set it up to make ti movements larger, it doesnt have the power).

And I think a wiper motor wont turn fast enough for thrashing... at best I can get 56 rpm... 1 revolution per minute is a pretty slow twitch.

Can anyone recommend a motor thats a bit faster? It doesnt need to be overly strong, as this is made mostly of foam, but will weigh a few pounds when all is said and done.

Or maybe some mod for a wiper motor to get a bigger thrashing movement out of it?

I would think a wiper motor would work fine. 106RPM should thrash pretty good. At least my trico motors spin that fast. You are probably hooked to the slow setting instead of the fast.

Except the fact that I've done 5v and 12v on both hookups. And monster guts states 56 RPM for 12v on high speed.

I kinda said it was 56 RPM for a reason.

Yep. I just hooked up my monster guts wiper motor to it just to see, and confirmed what I thought... 56 rpm just is not fast enough. It gives him a good, sexy gyrating hip motion... not a "get me outta here" thrashing

I either need that, or a jerking motion, which I might get with a solenoid... but all the ones I've seen are small... like a 1/4" stroke. I'm thinking I'd need a little larger than that... but then I can fire it off, and it'd cause a good jerking motion...

    Any suggestions?

Oh, here's a video of it's sexy hip moves at 56rpm

Video in once I figure out how...

I would say you could get the motion you want with a 2/3 inch cylinder. I think you are confusing the solenoid port opening 1/4 inch for the stroke. So you would need a 2/3 inch cylinder probably single acting with a spring, and a 3 way solenoid. You would get the movement you desire. The better route would be a double acting cylinder and a, 4 way solenoid.

You've totally lost me there. 3 way solenoid? double acting cylinder 4 way solenoid? What?

And as for the 1/4" stroke confusion, the item description says it has a 1/4" stroke. I'm not confused. I just havent seen anything bigger than a tiny component solenoid.
