    Greetings all,

I picked up a chauvet hurricane 1700 fog machine today for $30 from a Haunted House closeout sale. The guy selling it says the motor worked and it heats up but no fog would come out.

I brought it home, opened it up, and sure enough ... it powered up, heated up, and when it was ready to go, I hit the button and it made a "brrrrrr noise" but no fog came out ... just like it said.

Does anyone have some sort of list or instructions on how to troubleshoot one of these foggers to get it running again?

It is in very good condition and it hasn't been abused (from the looks) so I am hoping to troubleshoot it and get it going because I need something powerful like this for my yard haunt this year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Sound like the nozzle end is gunked up with mineral deposits. This link might help you.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

$30 for a broken fogger. I'm still scratching my head on that one.

However, the pdf link above posted by Tom did the trick for me a few years ago. But the fogger eventually clogged again during the next Halloween season and after another attempt at fixing yielded nothing so I threw it away.

After a little tinkering around with this fogger, and some cleaning ... it is "NOT" the pump .... there appears to be a blockage somewhere from where the copper tube connects to the section that goes into the heating unit in the front area of the fogger.

All pdfs and documentation I have found in regards to cleaning a fogger all go into detail about the "pump".

Has anyone taken apart the section of pipe that goes through the heater?

i have never taken one apart, but i think the copper tubing is spiraled in the heater, (I may be wrong). Looking at a insect fogger for fogging the back yard, i would thing that they are about the same. The only thing i could think of would be to run a piece of stiff wire into the tube and try to clear it that way. How stiff a wire,,,,,, one that will bend, but also one that will not just fold up when you try to push on it. You could also try forcing air or water through it from the nozzle toward the pump, With the pump removed of coarse.
Its the most HORRIBLE time of the year. , I apoligize in advance for any misspelled words.

    Hirez,
I had success with this method of cleaning the heater block. Fixed my Lite FX fogger good as new.
