Hey everyone, can you share how you built your trash can trauma? I'm starting to build mine today and am running into snags.

I ordered the 16" stroke pneumatic and have the piston bolted right to the lid with a mast sandwiched between... seems to work pretty good.

But I am having a problem with keeping the lid from twisting. I tried a u-bolt and threaded rod, but it's very loud and seems to twist too much...

So, I'm looking to see if a few people will share how they built theirs so I can try and get a better design.

    Thanks!

Connect the lid to the top of the head on your prop

My lid travels on its own shaft. The cylinder pushes it up.
You can see the guide shaft thats PVC, and the metal bracket that attaches to the cylinder on the underside of the lid in the vid.

Use the "guide" as captpete suggested . All you need is 1 piece of metal rod or PVC to guide the prop. make sure there is no binding in the guide...........

captpete ,what is under the car cover????????

    Thanks everyone.

Like I said, I have metal rod already guiding it, but it's not smooth and still twists on me. The way that captpete has his setup would inihbit my head a bit... any other designs people can suggest?

    thanks!

Dr Sprite, I think your 16" cylinder is probably going to be harder to stabelize.
Thats a fairly long stroke. You could off set 2 guides centered, but out to the inside edges 180 deg apart. The cylinder would need to be in the middle though. But this would give you more room for the head.

Okay, I think that makes sense... I have the cylinder centered now, but how do you recommend I use the guides?

Plumbing fittings will work. PVC pipe in wood guide holes would be simplest.
