I'm skinning my cauldron this weekend for a cauldron creep...it is going to be a faux stone pot, and I was planning on monster mud. I've never used paper mache, but it sounds like a cheaper solution, potentially. Thoughts? Anyone have luck making paper mache look like stone?

Ive never used monster mud. You can use the paper mache, if you crumple the paper up and then smooth it out again it will look rough like stone.
You might be a King or a little street sweeper... sooner or later your gonna dance with the reaper! If I like your product, I MAY buy it... if I love your product, I will just make it myself... for cheaper and better than you did in the first place!

While never having used monster mud, I shied away from it based on suggestions that for my particular prop, it runs pretty heavy. I used Celluclay paper mache instead and was able to work it to exactly what I wanted which was wood. You can get a 5 pound bag which will make a TON at Michaels for 13 bucks with a coupon to Michaels. For me anyways, it will be a medium I continue to work in.
